John Burke's Hastings, August 1999

Saturday 7 August 1999
Yes, unfortunately we are heading for home, but we stop for lunch and a quick look around
Windsor on our way north. We were hoping to go into Windsor Castle but there was quite a queue
to go in and we decided to wait for another day when we could hopefully get there earlier. |
 |
| Tourists were flooding out of the castle whilst all the while HM was
probably looking anxiously out of the window and wondering whether we would have time to visit.
"Oh Phillip - it's those dreadful Busker people again! If they sing 'Salome' one
more time..." |

A couple of young girls were dressed in period costume in an effort to
entice people to dress up themselves and have a photograph taken at a nearby studio.
Instead they were kept busy standing next to a never-ending supply of Japanese tourists... |
