After a night at the Post Hotel, Liege, we enjoyed a cooked breakfast. We sat with a couple of ladies who were both travelling alone. Sheila was from Whitby and Diane from Cardiff.

Travelling through Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany and then Austria, we arrive at the Mariasteinerhof hotel in the Austrian Tirol village of Mariastein.

Sunday 27th

Mariastein, the village where we stayed. Fran, Jock and George are in front of the hotel or Gasthof as we set off for a day in Salzburg.

Oh dear... it's raining in Salzburg.

We gave the guided walking tour a miss after having done it previously.

This is Mozart's statue to the right.

Also the first thing the guide did as the coach got into the bus station was to walk into and nearly fall over a bollard which didn't fill us with confidence!

Left: Mozart's birthplace.

Aha! Oh no - it's Sunday and most of the shops are shut!

I was unable to try one of the great composer's works on the electric guitar...

Not sure what he would have made of the bright red trumpet really...

There were a few people wandering around the city though not that many.

The market place that had been so busy was deserted and mainly the pedestrians seemed English or American!
