After the carriage ride we went on to Schwaz, where this hole in the wall leads to a silver mine.
A small train takes us down into the mine. |
With half of us singing "Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's off to work we go! " and the other half singing "Bob the Builder" we are kitted out with coats and hard hats. |
We are sitting astride a wooden bench making up a very narrow train. Even so these walls are moving past very close on either side! |
Nice feeling of movement but let's try again with flash!
Sticking elbows out here would definitely result in loss of skin! They didn't provide the hard hats for nothing! |

Martin is the guide with the glow in the dark eyes. The figure right is a mannekin that spoke in hilarious English - "Flippin' Heck, Cor Blimey! Blast! " |
Fran and Sheila wait with the others for the little train to come back. We waited a good 20 minutes and the drivers were wondering what had happened! |
But it comes and we trundle back and then across the road for some lunch. |
